PAPERCRAFT: RESEARCH

The teacher told us to research a few papercraft artists for this week's assignment and choose one to review.

An artist that caught my eye the most is Raya Sader Bujana. Sader is a paper artist and designer. In an interview I found online, she explains that creativity has always characterized her. During her childhood, she explains, "my parents would buy me a stack of twelve sketchbooks, and I would fill one a month."

Raya is not only an exceptional paper artist but a fantastic designer.
Looking at her blog, I found the precise, detailed and texture work she designed. There are three projects that I found fascinating to look at.

The first is the serial plane paper figures she made for an Olympic-themed stock photography shoot. The photographer Garcia Mendez contacted her to create a series of designs that capture movement by only using paper. The texture, light, and volume her technique gives to the artwork show each piece's fluidity. Also, the artist uses 3mm separators and around 150 tiny parts and 500 separators to create one papercraft design.

To give life to these pieces, Seder studied each discipline to make them as accurate as possible

The results are captivating

The second Project I found pleasant to look at is the stop motion animation for Nissan. The artist gives life to the scene by using warm colours, textures, and designs to recreate the animation scene of a car driving by the beach. I love how she uses light to create shadow and give the palm trees a more exciting look.

As you can see, Raya Sader mastered the papercraft technique and how she set up the stage to show her work tells us how much effort she put into her art.
